Crocidolite (Blue Asbestos)
Asbestiform Riebeckite, Na2Fe3+2Fe2+3[Si8 O22](OH)2
Crocidolite (or Blue Asbestos) was not usually used accounting for around only ten per cent of the asbestos used in the United States.
Crocidolite is the asbestiform variety of riebeckite (minerals of the glaucophane-crossite-riebeckite series).
Crocidolite's form is not unlike chrysotile as the fibers look like strands of hair but are marginally brittler. Crocidolite is harder than the other amphibole asbestos types.
