Grief Counseling
Grief counseling helps the bereaved who have uncomplicated grief while
grief therapy is aimed at those with
complicated grief.
Whether one-on-one sessions with a grief counsellor or in a self-help group the aims of grief counseling include:
- help to accept loss by helping you talk about it
- help to identify and express feelings (anger, guilt, etc.)
- help to live without the deceased (such as making decisions alone)
- help to separate emotionally from the decased and start new relationships
- discussing 'normal' grieving and how people deal with it differntly
- provide on-going support
- help to understand your coping methods
- identify grieving problems and make grief therapy recommendations
